these two German designers have set up their own studio and work as freelance. We met them at Milano in 2009 and 2010, they keep on surprising us with other elegant design products that have a very precious caractére: they are not only beautiful but also timeless, not easy to do, bravo!!

Scholten & Baijings for HAY

HAY launches its new collection designed by the award winning Dutch design duo Scholten & Baijings. The first items from the collection to be presented are bed linen, tea towels and two series of carpets. The collection is the result of close collaboration between designer and manufacturer and it is to be seen as work in progress where more items will be added to the collection on a regular basis. The first items will be presented at the trade fair Maison&Objet in Paris, January 21-25.

Daniel Rybakken, light of life

Swedish Daniel Rybakken has always been interested in lights and her effects on living. His work reflects the study of how to riproduce natural lights in interiors. Shy, clean, intimate, natural light with her shadows, her changing. A perfect example is his installation Daylight Entrance in Stockholm (under) : imagine the same interior without the window simulation, never the same!

'Architecture is part of the new layout given by energetic sustainability principles, to help prevent harmful emissions in the air. If streets and squares are enriched by plants and trees, if green areas are integrated into parking areas, if the city wants to go back to being a social place and not just a working one, the aesthetic and functional quality of urban furnishing become two necessary and complementary elements.'

Grand Central

Sanna Lindström and Sigrid Strömgren are two independent designers situated in Stockholm and Gothenburg, Sweden. Grand Central, their first piece together, is an innovative expandable table that transforms from space-saving occasional table to the central piece of the room. Like a pop-up - the inspiration comes from a pop-up map of New York - the tabletop is divided into 22 pieces that folds out in a spectacular way through its advanced construction. Dramatic and poetic at the same time.

Lisa Hilland

 Swedish product designer Lisa Hilland, after studies in London, founded her own Scandinavian based studio in 2003. Here her Granddaughter's Cabinet, a collection thinked to remain with natural materials like birch, typical of Nordic Forest.
We like the Pompom Pendant Lamp, in silk, and the Put a Spin on it tables.
