Moleskine + Ventura Lambrate | Milan Design Week 2015

Moleskine joins forces with Ventura Lambrate to set up a Documentation Centre for design innovation at Milan Design Week.
Roaming the post-industrial warehouses and bustling streets of Ventura-Lambrate - with the Moleskine smart notebook, Creative Cloud connected in hand - a team of design reporters sketch the ideas they find in the objects, installations, crowds and showrooms of the innovative design district during Milan Design Week.
Little page markers in the corners of each page are recognized by a companion app, which optimizes and digitizes the hand-drawn images with a simple capture. The design reporters then upload their sketches to the Creative Cloud as fully workable vector files, which are finally elaborated by a designer live from the Documentation Centre at Via Ventura 14. Projected onto a screen is this part of the creative process, with original sketches and printed works exhibited alongside, completing the circle of creativity.

We were talking about Bolon, the Swedish company producing unique woven floors, in my previous post.
Well, to celebrate their ten-years anniversary, the third generation owners, Marie and Annica Eklund, have presented a very special book dedicated to the story behind their family business and realized by the editor Simon Mills with the beautiful black and white photos by the internationally famous photographer Tobias Regell.

“The Story of Bolon” is a flirtatious dalliance with the fine books found on the coffee tables of the fashion world. 
The book interweaves memories and historical photographs from Bolon’s early days, comprising unique collection prints and personal interviews with some of the world’s foremost creators, designers and architects; from Rosita Missoni, Jean Nouvel and Giulio Cappellini to Thomas Sandell and Gert Wingårdh.

My free speakers - from Pringles

Last year, I won this wonderful black speaker, eating Pringles. You can have it for free also this year - read the rules here. It is a very practical object to listen to music from your mobile or your mp3 reader. I dressed up some empty cans of Pringles (they have the perfect size) with a pink used map of Marseille, with a toile de jouy printed paper and with other nice colored papers and now I keep each one in different places - from my home to my studio. I carry the speaker in my bag and when I need it, I have a colored support ready to use. I love them! Using empty cans, you have a better sound but you can also use the speaker alone.

The Butterfly Effect di Lago

Ci è piaciuto così tanto il messaggio di Lago nel suo comunicato stampa che vogliamo diffonderne un estratto:


"Questa definizione, l’effetto farfalla, è basata sull’idea che piccole variazioni nelle condizioni principali producano grandi variazioni nel comportamento a lungo termine di un sistema. Un concetto semplice: un battito d’ali “qui” può scatenare un inferno “là”. Un concetto però che non ha necessariamente risvolti negativi. Un soffio di vento “qui” può muovere energia in molti “là” del mondo.

Il pensiero di Lago è di poter muovere un po’ di quella energia buona che serve per scatenare altre reazioni e l’energia che più le assomiglia è il vento: associabile alla leggerezza, alla sospensione, all’aria e alla trasparenza dei suoi prodotti. É l’elemento intangibile che ben si sposa con la loro assoluta concretezza....Il vento a cui si fa riferimento è fatto di soffi leggeri, di brezze, di piccoli spostamenti e sospensioni che liberano la creatività nello spazio senza travagli e tragedie....

"L'appartamento è un progetto naturale. Che riparte da zero, dalle persone e dalle relazioni, dalle sensazioni e dalle opinioni che possono nascere toccando non solo un prodotto ma anche un progetto, rimettendo in discussione tutto quello che ci hanno detto bisogna fare per forza durante la design week milanese. "Quelli di Lago, durante i Saloni, invece dell'hotel hanno scelto di arredare una casa di 300mq al primo piano di via Tortona, 21 e ricevere chiunque! In 13, hanno condiviso la cucina, la doccia, gli armadi con piena libertà di andare e venire. In sinergia con il Royal College of Art di Londra che, in seguito ad un open call, ha raccolto i progetti di una trentina di studenti che hanno potuto trovare nell'appartamento un libero spazio espositivo e con l'organizzazione indipendente ROJO dedicata alla promozione dell'arte. L’Appartamento è stato anche headquarter milanese per la design week per Core.77, il blog che sin dal 1995 informa un pubblico globale su temi come l’industrial design, pubblicando articoli, forum, calendari di eventi, ospitando portfolio professionali insieme a database di aziende di design, scuole, etc.
