Libratone Fairytale Edition - with Stine Spedsbjerg

Libratone presents "Libratone Fairytale Edition", a series of Libratone Zipp speakers hand-embroidered by Danish cartoonist Stine Spedsbjerg and inspired by the story of Thumbelina by Hans Christian Andersen. The magical speakers will be auctioned on eBay, with proceeds going to UNICEF, the global children's charity organization and awarded to a lucky winner in a "Fairytale Edition" competition.

Stine Spedsbjerg is an award-wining Danish cartoonist whose spare style and warm drawings always elicit a smile. Her comic strip, "StineStregen" is an honest and humorous autobiographical strip about her daily experiences and challenges. In 2010 she won komiks.dk's price as "Best Web Comic".

The "Fairytale Edition" collaboration with Stine Spedsbjerg began at the Danish Chromatism exhibition, at Salone del Mobile, furniture fair in Milan earlier this year, when Spedsbjerg hand-embroidered selected scenes from Thumbelina on the speakers on display to remind us all that audio speakers are much more than just black boxes!

VIPP ANNUAL COLOUR 2013: RAY OF GREY

After a decade of exploring nuances from a vivacious colour palette, Vipp keeps it simple with a ‘Ray of Grey’.
The Vipp Annual Colour 2013 is a tribute to Vipp’s design philosophy of ‘form follows function’ resulting in a range of functional tools with a simple and pure aesthetic.
The Ray of Grey collection will be in stores from 1st of March 2013 as long as stock lasts.

“Good design never goes out of fashion”, Holger used to say. Time has proven him right; the Vipp bin has only been marginally improved since it saw the light of day back in 1939. Today the bin is internationally recognised as a design classic, and in November 2009 it was accepted into the architecture and design collection of The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. Winter Garden - Kekkila Garden

Kekkilä Oy is a Finnish company - owned by Vapo Oy - specialised in growing mediums and mulches and it is an expert in fertilising. I went lost in their catalogue of hobby products for gardeners where I found the minimal design objects in the photos. I think I'd need the first three of them just now to host my plants in this cold winter!

Photo from Skonahem

Mikko Jortikka, a Master of Science in Agriculture moved to Sakkola in Carelia in 1916. There he settled at the Kekkilä Manor where he began to grow all sorts of edible plants on a large scale. To ensure that he would get an excellent harvest he grew his plants in 1 800 squares, in which he experimented on and documented the different needs for nutrients that the plants had. As a result the first multi nutrient fertilisers in Finland were developed.

Roly House - Belgium - AABE

I love this sage jointure of a traditional building with modern techniques. And the paysage around is amazing. I'd like to spend winter time in a room like this with a cup of coffee.
The tranformation and the extension of Roly House is a project realized in Belgium  by AABE - Atelier d'Architecture Bruno Erpicum & Partners -. The house is now a bed and breakfast.

A new trend for rugs of next A/W 2012-13

"The simplicity of an irregular, circular outline defines the form of each design, delimiting a centre and a perimeter that will never be exact or symmetrical." After side tables, also rugs celebrate irregular shapes. Above the Aros series from Nani Marquina. Following, Gem by Normann Copenhagen and Geo Art by Nodus.

MIHO Unexpected Things

I stumbled into this beatiful decorative birdhouse in Seis am Schlern and I came to know other 'unexpected things' by Miho, like stools and trophies.
They are all made of cardboard, sold in flat packaging and easy to assemble at home. A really hygge decoration idea!
Miho Unexpected Things is produced by the Italian company Pianezza, in Azzio (VA, Italy), from 1935 in the textile design field
