Google Stories

I just discovered Google Stories. It's interesting and easy. I must confess that I don't have any credit for my first story because I found it ready in my google plus. I liked it like this, so I'm sharing it without changes. What do you think?

The IT University of Copenhagen

I still have some photos of my trip to Copenhagen that I'm trying to organize in the free time. These photos were taken inside the IT University. Isn't it a stunning space? (Others yet to come!)

The Tietgenkollegiet in Copenhagen

I finally found my photos of the Tietgenkollegiet (The Tietgen Residence Hall), one of my favourite buildings in Copenhagen.
It is a dormitory for students where I would live immediately if I had the possibility. It makes me want to be a student again!

APPT.N°50: Le Corbusier after Konstantin Grcic

Chair One for Magis and Diana side tables for ClassiCon

After the temporary installations by Jasper Morrison in 2008 and Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec in 2010, the Appartement N°50 has just hosted the industrial designer Konstantin Grcic's version.

Appt.N°50, in Le Corbusier´s famous Unité d'Habitation in Marseille, is almost completely preserved in its original 1952 condition. The appartment is privately owned and its passionate owner had the idea of opening it to the ideas of contemporary designers demostrating that Le Corbusier´s visionary work has the same vibrancy today as when it was originally conceived.

"Apart from placing a selection of my favorite furniture and objects I decided to tag the walls of the apartment with four blown up scans from an original punk fanzine. The punk motifs are tempting a slightly devious link between two completely unrelated worlds: Le Corbusier´s architecture and punk rock. Without forcing the idea of common grounds, I find that both have a rawness and uncompromising spirit which I have always found compellingly beautiful. Bringing both cultures together in this project felt most inspiring and, in the end, surprisingly fitting.
In contrast to Le Corbusier ´s enigmatic color scheme of the interior, the intervention is kept in iconic red, black and white." Konstantin Grcic

Back from Brixen

I'm back from my holidays in Brixen - South Tyrol -, it was a great time! We had a lot of relax, walking, biking, good reading and cakes, cakes, cakes :-)
We met a lot of nice people and I hope I can go back soon, maybe next winter.
I really recharged my batteries the last weeks there.
Now I'm working on photos (upper, a preview), and I will tell you more tomorrow and next days!
How were your holidays?

Fritz Juel, a houseboat in Copenhagen

Fritz Juel is a ferryboat built in 1954 in Svendborg, Denmark and now converted into a charming houseboat from DSA Ark . Fritz Juel has for a long time been facing Nyhavn and is now berthed at the Holmen. Equiped with solar panels on its roof, it hosted the office of architect Nils Jeppe Hansen, owner of DSA Ark Studio. Read the History and see more photos here.

“Being an architect, I have, for many years, been interested
in incorporating solar energy into buildings without compromising
the design of the exterior. This I have been able to
achieve on “Fritz Juel”, the house boat dated back from 1954,
where I have my office. I was able to install a system that supplies
plenty of usable energy that is generated by the sun. This
has lowered my heating costs and benefits the environment
by reducing CO 2 emission.”

Royal Copenhagen + the Royal Café in Copenhagen

How going to Copenhagen and miss a visit to Royal Copenhagen museum-shop? Interiors were fantastic and casually I discovered the near fairy Royal Cafe where you can eat cakes and smørrebrød.

The Royal Cafe is created and owned by Lo Østergaard and Rud Christiansen that happily opened it on 2007. The Cafe is a 50/50 mix of shop and food where famous Danish manufacturers - Royal Copenhagen, Georg Jensen, Fritz Hansen, Bang & Olufsen, Kvadrat, Carlsberg, Holmegaard etc. - are presented in a Cafe/Shop environment. Locations outside Denmark will function and perform as a “mini” danish embassy, where design, history and cuisine from Denmark are incorporated.

Lo and Rud have taken great care to find products for The Royal Cafe construction. Fritz Hansen have for example produced the “ANT” chair designed by Arne Jacobsen in a new size called counter-height for the first time. Holmegaard Glass have produced the chandeliers according to the owners' design, using their own expertise in glass making. Royal Copenhagen have adapted several serving items, so that they are functional in a Cafe enviroment. Also Georg Jensen uses their many designs in cutlery, vases, candlesticks and salt/pepper grinders for preserving the clients attention to their long history of design.
“We also feel that it is important to notice that The Royal Cafe has “soul” and we like to call it “Funky Baroque – design confusion, humourous and chic”.

Come andare a Copenhagen e non visitare il negozio-museo di Royal Copenhagen? Gli interni sono bellissimi e nella visita ho scoperto per caso l'adiacente Royal Cafe, il caffè delle fate dove mangiare dolci e smørrebrød.

Islands Brygge + some higgelig windows

Kulturhuset Café, Islands Brygge 18

Kulturhuset Café, Islands Brygge 18
If you don't have a bike, you can arrive to Islands Brygge with boat 901 (same ticket than for the metro/bus), it's a really amazing trip with wonderful views. Than, walking long the canal, before Harbour Pool, you'll find KulturHuset where you can have coffee, brunch, lunch, newspapers +
After, some higgelig windows:-)
