Light in Sant'Antimo | WeekEnd in Tuscany

Last weekend, I visited the Abbazia of Sant'Antimo, near Montalcino (Siena).  Everytime I go there, I'm awed by the natural light that plays inside through the 12th century windows and by the beauty of the naked interiors. As architect, I'll always have a lot to learn from masters of past centuries.

The Iris in the Chiantishire

If you visit the Florentine part of Chiantishire (around San Polo in Chianti)  in May, you will be surrounded by thousands of irises (iris pallida or “giaggiolo” in Florentine dialect) blossoming between olive trees and vineyards.
Iris was planted in Chiantishire around 1850 from farmers needing a second income in the summer times,

Nino's Door

I can't say that it's an old typical Italian door, because in Italy this door is not old. Maybe we 'had' the habit of making things that last (this is happening less and less), but with an hand of painting, a wooden door survives centuries. The door of my house is there exactly from 1907, it's quite new!!

Last weekend, it was raining but the garden of Villa La Petraia was opened and Iris had bloomed - snails were thankful for that!

An October Saturday in Bologna

Camera con Vista, via Santo Stefano
My short trip in Bologna : I began with coffee and cake at Follia Caffé, Strada Maggiore 13C. From there I walked through restored Corte Isolani
and went out in amazing Piazza Santo Stefano.
I went around via Clavature to see typical food market and I walked 'till Piazza Cavour where there is the most beautiful ancient barber shop I've ever seen, Marchi. Then I followed via Carbonesi and Barberia and turned right to reach via porta Nuova.
Don't leave Bologna without a stop to Gelatauro, a wonderful icecream shop (gigembre, fenouille, Pumpkin and cinnamon)
