Libratone Fairytale Edition - with Stine Spedsbjerg

Libratone presents "Libratone Fairytale Edition", a series of Libratone Zipp speakers hand-embroidered by Danish cartoonist Stine Spedsbjerg and inspired by the story of Thumbelina by Hans Christian Andersen. The magical speakers will be auctioned on eBay, with proceeds going to UNICEF, the global children's charity organization and awarded to a lucky winner in a "Fairytale Edition" competition.

Stine Spedsbjerg is an award-wining Danish cartoonist whose spare style and warm drawings always elicit a smile. Her comic strip, "StineStregen" is an honest and humorous autobiographical strip about her daily experiences and challenges. In 2010 she won komiks.dk's price as "Best Web Comic".

The "Fairytale Edition" collaboration with Stine Spedsbjerg began at the Danish Chromatism exhibition, at Salone del Mobile, furniture fair in Milan earlier this year, when Spedsbjerg hand-embroidered selected scenes from Thumbelina on the speakers on display to remind us all that audio speakers are much more than just black boxes!

The Connect - design: Geke Lensink / Jesse Visser
Between the eQ plus highlights designed by Geke Lensink + Jesse Visser and presented in Zona Tortona last month:
- The Look And Feel chair (L.A.F.), inspired to architects and designers' seat. A very clear and sleek design with maximum comfort available in 9 contemporary colours. The material is very practical and bends itself to the shape of the body. Because of the diversity of bases the L.A.F. chair fits in many different locations and situations. Colours: oxblood, red, orange, forest, green, lime, petrol, taupe and black.
- The Connect, a sturdy and very comfortable seat on a swivel base that can be delivered in several fabrics and leather.

In the eQ plus catalogue, I especially love the Big Mama table, see next photos.

Arocca - Ilblua collection

It looks like boys' room after a party - while it's effectively a boys' room during the FuoriSalone in via Savona Milano. Anyway, the sofa is fabulous! And the rest of the collection, too.
Salotto Sofa is part of the new collection Ilblua designed by Arocca and introduced during the Zona Tortona Week in Milan.
The Dutch design team consists of Jan Wout and Dax. Besides the inhouse design team, Arocca works with several freelance designers.
The Arocca showroom is located in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands. The building was designed by the Dutch architects of 'Duck Deventer', and has been nominated for the National Prize for Architecture!

Acqua Alta Collection

Murano - scent diffuser

'Acqua Alta is the italian word for the “High water”, phenomenon that occurs in the city of Venice. This project is conceived from the idea of enhancing a cultural and historical heritage that belongs to us: the city of Venice. Venice and the Venetian region are home to such craft techniques and secrets that few know how to play. Strong traditions characterize this city that has for a long time been the center of commerce and trade with the rest of the world.
Among them is the manufacturing of textiles, with a wide range of products created in the area. No less important is the Murano glass craft, and the trade of spices and essences that are precious keys to Mediterranean’s business. Acqua Alta as a tool to link all these techniques starting from a unique phenomenon. Water as transport, water as energy, water as an issue that affects the lives of citizens, leaving it’s mark. It deeply influences the life of this city, haping and surrounding it with thousands of different colors and textures. The first collection “Aqua Alta Collection”, is influenced by these findings. Aqua Alta includes a series of objects strongly linked to the theme. These can be summarized in a series of textiles (fabrics), a carpet, a series of fragrances correlated with diffuser, and a table lamp
The intent of the collection is to translate an important and delicate issue, as an inspiration for the development of objects that fit in the contemporary living.'
