The Royal Abbey of Fontevraud nestles in the heart of the Loire Valley between Touraine and Anjou. Founded in the 12th century, it was a monastery for over 700 years until it was transformed into a prison. Today, Fontevraud is home to an ambitious arts and cultural program around the theme of a contemporary « ideal » city.
