Sanna Lindstrom and Sigrid Stromgren

Grand Central

Sanna Lindström and Sigrid Strömgren are two independent designers situated in Stockholm and Gothenburg, Sweden. Grand Central, their first piece together, is an innovative expandable table that transforms from space-saving occasional table to the central piece of the room. Like a pop-up - the inspiration comes from a pop-up map of New York - the tabletop is divided into 22 pieces that folds out in a spectacular way through its advanced construction. Dramatic and poetic at the same time.

Luck & Fancy by Ivy Chuang

'Knoend' :: express his philosophy to the world: Know no end!

The design studio was founded in 2006 by Ivy Chuang. She is interested in exploring the role of design at the intersection of culture, craft, technology, and sustainability.
From her introduction: 'Knoend is an ecodesign studio operating on the belief that design is a catalyst for change. Design has the power to create new experiences that will bring enhanced meaning to life.
With every product or project undertaken, the goal is to provide a fresh look at the world, to allow people to see, feel, experience life in another way and to do so without negative environmental or social impact.'
Luck & Fancy (in these photoes in Milan) is a furniture collection born with the goal of connecting people with technology, realized with manufacturing methods that combine digital technology and artisanal craft. 'In an age when machines steadily replace master artisans, and handicraft continues to shift to developing nations', Ivy shows a possible direction to the interaction of sustainability and technology with culture and craft in our future.

Nownao - Seasons

Seasons by Nao Tamura, great poetic installation in Milano! Like a real leaf, this is a flexible and multi-purpose dish. Using the benefits of silicone, it rolls up for storage and can be used in oven or microwave.
Have a look at the designer's web site for other projects and also for the elegant graphic.

"In the land where I grew up, spring is the time when Japanese sweets come wrapped in cherry leaves.
In summer, a fiery ripe tomato is carved out for use as a serving container.
In autumn, fallen foliage from maple trees decorates the dinner table.
And the aroma of bamboo helps create the setting for winter." Nao Tamura

E15's 15th Birthday

At the beginning there was a table...15 years of e15.
The German company e15 was co-founded in 1995 in London by architect Philipp Mainzer. e15 quickly developed into an internationally recognised brand with a distinct range of furniture. Today e15 has its headquarters in Germany near Frankfurt and is run by shareholders Philipp Mainzer and Peter Wesner.

The Pot Hole Gardener

What about planting little gardens in our town potholes? This was the idea of the art student Steve Wheen,  who everyday makes the London citizens smile with his chefs-d'oeuvre. You can follow his work on his site.
