Made a Mano - DK

Kaluri lavastone boards

The company Made a Mano was founded in 2001 and based in Copenhagen.
The ambitions of the owners (Rosario Parrinello, NanaKi Bonfils and Josephine Akvama) were :
1 - to create a collection of tiles, countertops and sinks, combining ancient traditional handicraft with modern techniques;
2 - revealing a sure sense of beauty and style.
Made a Mano's  working techniques are free hand drawing - it involves drawing the decoration by hand using a pencil and then applying the colours by brush - and handprinting - a technique that uses shapes of designs pressed onto the object while colours are applied to the object by brush.

My 'fav' coffees in Viareggio

I need to stop and taste a coffee when I see an old pasticceria like these two in the centre of Viareggio. Everytime I go there, I must visit both of them! (I will also discover new ones).
Above, Pasticceria Patalani, via Zanardelli 183 (food market square);
Under, Pasticceria Gambalunga Benassi, via Sant'Andrea 34 (Sant'Andrea Church).

Looking at the stars

Stars are like petits pois in the night sky, don't forget to look at them also in winter time when silence is deeper.

The renovation of an old building in Italy

Reading Afflante, I found this beautiful renovation of an old building in Italy where original architectural structure was preserved and completed with modern and functional furniture. I expecially love the kitchen, the steel staircase and the white wooden ceiling.

Sunday brunch at OpificioJM in Prato

Yesterday, we had a nice brunch at OpificioJM in Prato: avocados+walnuts salad, pancakes, mozzarella+pesto toast, frites, kiwi juice and coffee!
 avocado+Since June 15th 2010, situated in the middle of the historic centre of Prato and sheltered between the fourteenth century walls and the medieval battlements, there has been a new place to shop and it’s called OPIFICIOJm.
Sitting along the same path that the Medicean troops used to secretly pass through, OPIFICIOJm is named after the famous American actor and director John Malkovich who put down his roots in Prato and now designs his own clothing line Technobohemian.
OPIFICIOJm brings together consumers and creative local Tuscan products. It is a collection of local businesses dedicated to creating original and high quality products exclusively for the brand. Working with Tuscan craftsmen allows the store to support local businesses and, with minimal transport, also helps the environment.
OPIFICIOJm is also a brand consisting of forty craftsmen and their beautiful products - food, furniture, pret-a-porter, jewellery, ceramics, metal goods and glassworks - that are displayed over 600 square metres.

Arne Jacobsen's AJ lamp from Louis Poulsen

The AJ lamps were designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1960 for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen (Radisson Blu), and contributed to the total design concept of the hotel. Several of the hotels items have achieved iconic design status, and among the lighting products the AJ lamps in particular have become world renowned. Five new color variants were introduced in connection with the 50th anniversary of the launch of the AJ family. The new colors have been carefully chosen in line with an updated Arne Jacobsen color scheme. Produced by Louis Poulsen in Denmark.

A creative and collective space in California

It's one of my dreams to share a working space like this with other creatives! In the photos above - from Apartment Therapy - the loft studio shared by Emma, Bri, Steve, Max, Michael, Brian and Jonathan - a couple graphic designers, a dj, a photographer and a few videographers - in Atwater Village in Los Angeles, CA. Wow!

New VIPP972 Table

The Vipp table features a table top made of untreated, recycled teak planks, making each table unique. Every table top thus stands out with its own distinctive character.
The table frame is constructed in powder coated aluminum and is assembled with solid corner profiles, a steel wire stabilizer and countersunk screws, giving the table an industrial feel. The table is equipped with set screws making it possible to adapt to uneven floors. The table is available with a frame in matte black or gloss white. Lovely.

Dimensions, prices and more.
