Hygge | what does it mean?
01 - The Lonely Planet Quote :
The Danes are obsessed with cosiness. All of them. Even the toughest leather-clad biker will recommend a bar based on its ‘hygge‘ factor. In Danish, however, ‘hygge’ means more than just cocoa and tea lights. It’s about a feeling – a sense of warmth and companionship. So, as another long winter waits in the wings, it’s time to get that hygge feeling.Via Study in Denmark
02 - a little bit of HISTORY of the word:
Hygge didn't originate in the Danish language but in
Norwegian, where it meant something like "well-being." It
first appeared in Danish writing around the end of the 18th Century
and the Danes have embraced it ever since. One good thing about hygge
is that you can apply it anywhere.

03 - the SHORTer
definition I found is :

04- the ARCHITECTure magazine's definition:
A home's sense of hygge—that is, the spare but very cozy minimalism epitomized by Danish houses.
Hygge (roughly
pronounced hoog-eh) describes the warm, cozy feeling that develops
when friends gather in a room with some open flames (candlelight,
fireplace), alcohol, and plenty of time to enjoy the experience.
There’s an aesthetic component, too—worn wood and strewn (faux)
sheepskins help. So do “small things, and blankets” . Though it’s
somewhat difficult to define, Danes know it when they see it.

Aarstiderne's køkkenhave at Normann Copenhagen
Aarstiderne's køkkenhave is a new book that I'm looking forward to read and experiment with (you know I'm vegetarian and I do love to cook and eat well)
The book - written by the gardener of Aarstiderne Frank van Beek, Chef and co-founder Søren Ejlersen and Jacob Dietz - is a tangible guide on how to grow your own food. The story is told with soil on the hands by a professional and two vegetable enthusiasts. It is crammed with priceless tips, tricks and hard-earned experiences from the garden, flower box and the kitchen.
Normann Copenhagen and Aarstiderne are throwing a book release for "Aarstiderne's køkkenhave" on 3rd of April (read here). You will meet the three authors of the book and you will "get your hands dirty and get home-grown vegetables on the table with the new book. There will be lots of inspiration on how to grow and cook with homegrown vegetables from your own garden or flower boxes. Meanwhile you can go exploring in the Normann Copenhagen Flagship Store and check out the newest trends in home décor and kitchenware. "

Anne-Julie Aubry | Illustrator
My collection of postcard - Instagram |
I got to know the beautiful artwork of Anne-Julie Aubry visiting a bookstore in Aix-en-Provence. I was fascinated by the whimsical world that she creates - a world that has both a dark side and a childish side. Every illustration is a fairy tail itself.

Styling | Sunflowers Bedroom
I'm working on the interiors of an old terrace house near Florence and this is the main bedroom. Under layers and layers of white painting, I discovered a beautiful sunflower wall made with patterned paint rollers at the beginning of 1900 and I decided to unveil it.
In the pictures: all bed lines (except the blue lines pillow) by La Signoria - Firenze, Eames rocking chair by Vitra, Dalù table lamp by Artemide, round box by Habitat, lime alarm-clock by Trevi, white table (off production) and faux sheepskin by Ikea, big white basket and drapes by Zara Home.
