Alex S. MacLean, Up on the roof: New York's hidden skyline spaces

Alex S. MacLean is an accomplished fine art aerial photographer based in Lincoln, MA. Pilot and photographer Alex MacLean has flown his plane over large areas of the United States, documenting the landscape from beautiful agricultural patterns to geometric city grids. In his new book, he directs his lens at the rooftops of New York City, showing the great complexity and life of the roofs of New York's buildings. Depicting not only the city's famous water towers, but pools, tennis courts, gardens, sunbathers, art, and restaurants up in the air, MacLean's powerful images give readers a glimpse of a part of the city that usually remains hidden. Looking forward to find it;-)

Jaime Hayon, Crystal Candy Set for Baccarat

Dessins préparatoires - Jaime Hayon

Here the new collection - Crystal Candy Set - designed by Jaime Hayon (my design-genius together with Paola Navone) for Baccarat and produced in collaboration with Italian ceramic Bosa. These pieces leave me stunned, I love them!
"... With these pieces, I wanted to replicate the richness of fresh tropical fruit using crystal and other materials, such as ceramics. Using a variety of textures and thicknesses, a new game of reflection has been accomplished with each of the 9 characters that make up the collection. Diverse crystal cutting techniques can be appreciated throughout the collection. They result in a series of soft, feminine shapes with touch of humor. Fruity inspirations are mixed with gem like features: pineapples, pomegranates, golf balls and water drops are some of the ideas explored. The pieces are a limited edition of 25. " JH

Very Wood - Italian chairmakers - is a trademark of IFA Srl - Gervasoni Group.
At the last 'Salone del mobile' in Milano they have presented, between other pieces, the arm/chair Chelsea (I especially like) designed by Matthias Weber. Chair and armchair are made in beechwood, seat and back are upholstered with fabric or leather while seat upholstery is made with elastic webbing.

Bookmark recycling ribbons

I saw this photo on Pinterest and it suggested me an useful way to recycle cutted ribbons. New clothes have often one or two ribbons on the inside to avoid slipping off the hanger. After purchaising my items, I usually cut the ribbons off. Now I know how to use them, I will fix them together with a piece of washi-tape, like this in the following photos, or fix them to the interior of the back cover.

Sandways, from Heart Home - summer 2012

Heart Home is a wonderful magazine, focused on British interior design, that you can read and download from Issuu. These photos, by Simon Eldon, are taken from the article 'Beach Life', written by  Kelly Lavender, on the summer 2012 edition.
The house on the cover is a cool seaside second home full of vintage furniture, a cottage in Camber Sands called Sandways and restored by the owners, Rebecca and Mark Partridge.

My free speakers - from Pringles

Last year, I won this wonderful black speaker, eating Pringles. You can have it for free also this year - read the rules here. It is a very practical object to listen to music from your mobile or your mp3 reader. I dressed up some empty cans of Pringles (they have the perfect size) with a pink used map of Marseille, with a toile de jouy printed paper and with other nice colored papers and now I keep each one in different places - from my home to my studio. I carry the speaker in my bag and when I need it, I have a colored support ready to use. I love them! Using empty cans, you have a better sound but you can also use the speaker alone.

Above, Flake, star shaped pieces from TYVEK joined together to make curtains or room dividers with three dimensional surfaces - produced by Woodnotes.
Following, Lily, carpet in leather and cushions in wool felt. Made of assembled star shaped pieces.
Mia Cullin works as designer and interior architect in Stockolm. She worked for Woodnotes, Nola, Ikea, Habitat and Ateljé Lyktan.
